how to cope - September 6th 2011, 11:35 AM

ive decided i will begin to see the school Councillor for my issues with self harm because no matter how hard i try i always end up doing it. but i have a problem she will tell my parents what im doing and when they find out they will loose it can anyone help me with coping and how to discuss this rationally with them?

Firstly well done on making this desision to get help it is a big and important step on the road to recovery.

I suggest telling your parents now before the counseller does as it is better coming from you. Either sit them down and carmly exaplin how you are feeling and thigs that are making you sad, angry etc and then say that you have been coping by self harming. Then go on to say you are getting proffessional help, but would like their suport through this as well.

If you cannot say it to them write it down in a letter.
