do you need to be scarred? - September 8th 2011, 12:41 AM

So i have cut myself before over stress and other stuff but if after there are no scars do you think it is not that bad? It all goes away after like a day or 2 or 3. is that just as bad..? Is there anything wrong with it then?

It's not the scars that are what's wrong with self-harm.

It's the act of doing it that is.

You shouldn't hurt yourself, whether the injuries leave scars or not.

I used to think that if I harmed myself without leaving a scar, it was okay. However, I've come to realize that it's not okay. When I cut, I used to make sure it was small enough to not leave a scar. Then, it progressed to leaving terrible scars. I have to live with them everyday. There's no erasing the damage I caused.

The act of harming yourself is wrong and unhealthy. Scars are just a reminder of the harm you inflicted. Even if there's no scar, you'll still know that you hurt yourself at some point or another. I am not judging you - as I've been there - but it is important that you realize this before it gets worse for you like it did for me.

Take care.

thanks. and like idk if this is normal though because something very simple can happen where maybe just my siblings are fighting and just the bickering and stuff gets me so angry where i immediately think "omgg stoppp i just wanna go SH(i don't like saying the word) myself.." like how come something so little, not even involving me can get me so overworked. Like EVERYTHING bothers me...sometimes i don't even know why i do it. I just see something that can cut and think "hmm.." Like why does that happen?
