Fading Scars? - September 12th 2011, 02:40 AM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of self harm, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread might therefore not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

I know this sounds weird but some of my older scars from when I first started SHing are pretty much gone and I'm really freaking out about it.I've had little freak outs about it before when they were fading but I always managed to get over it but now that I can barely see them I can't stop freaking out.I know I sound really weird and sick, but I guess for some reason it was kinda comforting to have them there I don't really know why.

I don't know what to do,I even came so close to "re doing" them but it seemed really weird to me

Anyone else go through this? How did you deal?

You wonder why I never smile anymore, but with broken homes come broken smiles.

Has the acidic rain burned a hole so deep, that we don't care what's beneath our feet?

I'm a freak and my best friend is a pirate-ninja-dinosaur,what a unique friendship!

My heart is so numb, that I can't feel it breaking

Please, whatever you do, don't redo them. It really isn't the best thing to do.

And it upsets me yet excites me when they fade. I get upset because they've been such a huge part of my life, and they're like leaving. But then again, I get excited, because sometimes it's easier when there isn't that constant reminder. I think that you should just breathe, and don't worry so much about scars fading. Focus on something else, your future for one. I just let it go. They fade for whatever reason they fade, and I just have to accept it.

if you really want to have scars, you could draw them on using brown eyeliner, or a lipliner or something like that of a similar colour to them. dont redo them, they faded because you are stronger than self harm. you can beat it.

"It gives me hope. I love you so much. You give me a reason to breathe. Its something for me to not kill myself for" >>> means so much :')

Scars are bound to fade. It's natural to feel some sort of loss like a part of you is missing. However, you shouldn't act on those feelings. Please don't redo them. If you must, as someone else suggested, draw them on. You are stronger than self-harm.

I know exactly how you feel. Sometimes i'm terrified that my scars are fading. Before i'd just make new ones but now I can't bring myself to do it. I have to appreciate the fact that i've not cut and that my life is moving in a more positive way. That itself can be scary.
Try to focus on the positive side of it if you can

Hey there,

I know how it can be hard when scars start to fade. But even though you can't see the physical evidence of what you went through, you will always remember that you recovered and beat self harm. As suggested above perhaps draw them on, you don't need to SH again, you are stronger than self harm.
If you ever want to talk feel free to PM me,

Take care,
Charli
