Hi there.

I am assuming that you haven't hurt yourself for nearly eight weeks in which case I really want to congratulate you and make you aware of how amazing and inspirational this is! I honestly believe that if you have the strength and will power to get through those past several months then you can keep beating this thing.

I know beating self harm is really hard and at times we just want to give up because the urges can become really overwhelming and the feelings surrounding the urges and the way we feel when we want to hurt ourselves can be really difficult to deal with and hard to distract ourselves from but they are only feelings and as unpleasant as they are they can not hurt you. You are stronger than these urges you are experiencing and they're not going to be there for ever. You are going to have times where they are worse than others but the more you beat them the easier it will get, it's not going to suddenly get easy, it's going to carry on being hard, but you will find it easier to distract yourself and learn how to deal with the urges and how to beat them.

I don't know if you've looked at the thread we have in the self harm forums of a list of alternatives to self harm but here it is. I think you might benefit from going through this list and possibly making a poster of the ones you think might help and want to try (of course you can add your own too!) so that when you feel low and have urges you can go straight to and do them!

I really hope this helps. Remember you ARE stronger than this.
