Question Covering scars? - October 6th 2011, 11:54 PM

I'm going to be in a ballet performance in December. I cut myself and do not plan on stopping anytime soon. My only concern is, the pink tights are slightly see through and our costume's skirt will be short. I cut on my high inner thigh, and was just wondering how I could cover them up under my tights to avoid people seeing. Any suggestions would be appreciated. :\

If the cuts are healed, you could use makeup to cover them up. But if not, there's not much you can do..

Would it be possible to wear spandex shorts under your skirt?
If not, I'd say makeup (if they're healed) or bandaids, or maybe wearing flesh-colored tights under your ballet tights. (The last one's kinda weird and may not be possible, but I'm just throwing ideas out there.)

There are a few things you can do.

If they are healed, then you can in fact use makeup. I would use concealer, and then a liquid cover up. Rather then rubbing it in, pat is on with your fingers. Maybe do a second coat.

Another thing you can do is get dermablend. (Provided you live in the US). I use that with concealer. And usually use three coats. Mind you, dermablend is quite pricey.

I like the idea of wearing spandex, that all the color of your tights. That could work. You could also double the tights. Meaning you could wear two pairs of the same tights. Or even wear a thicker tight.

You'll be on stage , where the lights will be shining on you. The audience will be sat at a distance, so it's likely they won't notice. Especially with other dancers on stage. Your inner thigh won't be the only thing they focus on, if at all. With all the movement that you're going to be doing, it's going to be hard to focus in and notice the cuts. I think you'll be fine.

But really, to avoid things like this in the future, not cutting would be ideal. Scars are a consequence we have to deal with and accept if we're going to cut.
