Cut myself, and now I'm sick. -

I've been trying to stop, but I have failed and have been cutting pretty much everyday. Now, I am sick. I'm very dehydrated and may have to go to the ER if it doesn't get better. What would a doctor do if they noticed my cuts, since they are all over my upper legs? Is there a way to keep them from noticing?

Hi There,
I am sorry that you are in such a bad place right now! A doctor is a mandated reporter meaning the doctor is required by law because of your age to inform a parent or legal guardian. This is one of the issues that is not covered by doctor patient privilege. He may tell your parents. Sometimes if have a good doctor they will respect your privacy if your situation is bad if he/she thinks you are at risk he is legally required to inform your parents unless you are 18 years old.
