is it weird to feel this way - November 29th 2011, 03:48 AM

Is it weird to feel a sort of safeness to know where my knife is even though i've stopped cutting , almost stopped . The first thing i do when i come home from school is to find the knife to know where it is or else i'd go nuts about it !

It's not weird to feel that way. There's a certain comfort in familiarity, and you were familiar with using the knife. I think, though, that you should try to become less attached to it over time. It doesn't have to be done immediately, or even at all if you are able to control yourself. Take it slow, gradually checking where it is less and less. Develop an attachment to something less threatening, such as your pillow. When you come home from school, visit that instead.

I hope this helps. PM me if you'd like to chat; I'm always up for it. : )

It's definitely not weird to feel that way. Like what was said by Amy, try to gradually lessen the attachment to the knife. Start visiting it less and less, like every other day at first, then every two days when you feel comfortable with that, etc. You don't have to do it once, just go slow and gradually.
