Its been a few months since i've been on this site. I lost my account details so i made a new one.
Its been 4 months since i self harmed. I just started burning myself again and for some reason it barely hurts like it used to. I'm disappointed it doesn't hurt that much. Has this happened to anybody before?

Please don't harm yourself. Believe it or not, there are people in your life you can talk to and there are things you can do to stop it. Self-harm is nothing but self-destructive; you get a temporary high, you feel better for a while, but it doesn't last. It's worth nothing.

Have you identified the reason that you self-harm? For example, do you have trouble talking to people about your problems, and you self-harm to get all of that out? Do you just feel bad and use it as just a plain coping mechanism? Do you do it because you feel like you hate yourself and you deserve to be in pain? One of those reasons, all of them or none of them?

Identifying the reason will help you to stop it, and believe me, you want to stop it. Self-hate will take you nowhere, and self-harm will just set you back, and believe me - it can set you back a very long way down the road to recovery.

I know that people relapse sometimes, but I hope you think of this as a one-time thing.

Please check out the 'Alternatives to Self-Harm' sticky and try to get better. If you need to talk to someone, you can always send me a PM if you need to.

For me, my return to self-injury was the end of a downhill slope that ended up with me going to a psych hospital. They're not bad in and of themselves, but it's bad to be in that sort of situation, and I really hope you try to take steps to get better.

There is hope. There are people who love and care about you. Please don't turn your back on the world by regressing into self-harming behaviors.

You deserve love.
Now that we've got that done with, may I eat your brains?

I'm in the same boat as you. It was a year and a half but now I'm starting back from day one. And the same thing happened with me, it didn't hurt as much. I know the next time I will need to cut deeper to feel the pain, which is why I'm going to try not to do it again. But at the same time I realized how much I missed it and how much easier it was then actually dealing with the pain inside. So yes, this has happened to me.
