GAHHH! Bra shopping!!

My mom wants to take me bra shopping this weekend because I only have one that fits me. I have cuts still healing on my upper arms like right beneath my shoulders. And she wants to take me to a place where they like measure you topless. Umm so yeah don't worry my counselor already knows about the cuts but since it was only one slip up she said she doesn't have to tell my mom. So now I'm like freaking out because some stranger will see them and most likely tell my mom or give me a weird look or honestly I have no clue what they will do. Help!

Hey Alessa,

If I were you, I'd just tell them that I wasn't comfortable being measured without a shirt on. I'm sure they've measured people with a shirt on before, and they can't make you be topless while they measure you. That or tell your mom you'd rather go somewhere else to go bra shopping?
I hope it all works out. Even if they end up seeing them, remember that it was a slip-up. That it doesn't define who you are, and they it's not their job to judge you anyways. Their job is to make sure you have a nice comfortable bra

Hey Alessa,

Me and my friends went and got measured for bra sizes just to see if we were wearing the right size and we got measured with our clothes on. I've never been measured for a bra with my clothes off and I personally wouldn't feel comfortable being measured by a stranger with my clothes off. Do you have a Victoria's Secret in your area? If so, get measured there. I got measured there and I've gone other places to buy bras and they have fit perfectly fine. However, if you do end up going, don't worry. I highly doubt that they would mention that to your mom, considering you and your mom are customers in the store. The store employee doesn't know how you got your cuts; therefore, the chance of her jumping straight to the prospect of Self Harm and THEN telling your mom about it is quite unlikely. Even if she suspects Self Harm, I doubt she would go and tell your mom. So don't worry and have fun getting new bras.
