Unhappy I don't want to stop - December 20th 2011, 09:21 PM

I'm new to posting online and with online message boards. This is the first time I've done this. I have been cutting on and off for the past 3 years and I can't seem to stop, nor do I want to. I know it's not good but it makes me feel better, be less agitated, happier and stress-free. I told my boyfriend of 5 months about my cutting a week ago and promised him I'd try to stop. I haven't cut since I told him I'd try but I'm becoming more and more agitated and upset as the days go on without cutting. I don't know what to do. I know if I cut I'll feel better but I know he'll be so disappointed in me and I don't want to hurt him

Hi There--

I'm sorry that you feel like you can't stop. Why don't you want to stop? Maybe you could talk to your boyfriend about this and try to get through this together. I am sure that he wants to help you and prevent you from hurting yourself. I think that it would be a good choice to talk to him.

You can PM me anytime!

Stay Safe,

Thank you for replying. I'm new to this and I'm not really sure what PM means? Explain?
Thanks!

Hi there.

I agree with whats already been said. Try talking to your boyfriend and ask him for support if that is what YOU want. However, I think to stop self harming, you need to want too stop. I think that if you don't want to stop, you're not going to believe in yourself, find the reasons to keep beating it when you have urges and have the determination you need. You need to do this when you want too. And as hard as it is, I believe you can do it. I think you need to think about the pros and cons about self harm.

If you want to talk to me you can PM me anytime. That's personal message by the way

Take care,
Jessie.

if you don't feel safe asking your boyfriend for help I"m sure there's someone else that will help you. And exacrtly what Jessie said, you have to want to stop. It's like walking if you want to walk you need to take the first step. Same goes with SH. It isn't always easy to see why you'd want to stop.

And to answer your question PM means to private message if someone's online you can usually PM them
