Hi there.
Firstly well done on being three months self harm free. That is absolutely amazing and you should be really proud of yourself! It's an inspiration. Have you tried distracting yourself when you have urges. Here is a link to teenhelps list of alternatives to self harm. I know sometimes we feel like we don't want to not self harm and distracting yourself seems pointless, but at the end of the day if you want to beat self harm for good, you need to force yourself to get through these moments and make yourself do these things. I'm not saying it's going to make you feel completely better and that distracting yourself is going to make it all okay, because it isn't but distracting yourself can help you get through the urges. Not everything will help you keep on trying new things. It's all about trial and error, don't give up when something doesn't work. I know it's really hard but you can beat this. You're worth so much more than the pain you would be inflicting yourself and you have come so incredibly far which is amazing. You're effort in the past three months is not worth you throwing it away. You should be really proud of yourself. You're inspiring and incredible and I hope more than anything for your sake, that you keep on fighting through the urges. You can beat it, you honestly can. If you ever want to talk to me about what's going on for you and wants making you feel this way you're more than welcome to shoot me a PM. Or if you just need someone to talk to about random things to distract yourself, you can do. Just keep on fighting this. You're not alone. Keep yourself safe. Hey,
First of all, congratulations on making it so long. It is a really great accomplishment. If you have made it this long, you are definitely a strong person, and I have faith that you are able to use that strength to continue this fight. Have you checked out that list of alternatives that Jessie posted? There is so many things there that cover a wide range of emotions that can help distract you when the urge strikes. It is always a really great thing to discover something that works for you so when you get that urge, you are able to fight it off to to the best of your ability. It may also be a good idea to keep a journal of what goes on in your day. Basically, you write down what happened and how you feel about it, even the good things. If you feel triggered and know what is causing it, make a note of it. Even if you don't know what caused it, make a note saying that you were triggered that day, and then once you feel better, you will be able to look back on what happened that day and try to work out what triggered you. From there, you can find ways to solve whatever problem is bothering you. Not only does it help you work on finding your triggers, but writing it all down would also help you get your emotions out on one piece of paper. Nobody sees the journal if you don't want them to, so you can say whatever you want in it without feeling suppressed. I know that you are struggling right now but I have confidence that you are strong enough to keep going. I am sure that you will even be able to make it past these three months! You can PM or VM me at any time if you would like to talk, whether it is about this or just to chat. Stay strong, -Dez Sing, the last thing on your mind The last word on your breath I'll be the one to keep you I'll keep you at your best ![]() Self Expression Forum Mod 4/23/12 |
