I need some help… - January 11th 2012, 06:26 AM

So, I am on a dance company at my studio. Well, we go to a few different conventions/competitions throughout the year. In the competitions, everyone is in a huge dressing room together, and basically I'm going to have to change in front of all the girls in my company, and a bunch of strangers. The thing is, I have cuts on my whole left arm. I'm really self-conscious about it, and I don't really know what to do. Also, I'm going to have to perform on stage in my costumes which could be short sleeved. My first competition is in about five weeks. I'm freaking out about it!

Also, before the competition, we take a bunch of classes. I know from experience that it gets super hot in those rooms. I really don't want to wear long sleeves, but I'm afraid I'm gonna have to. I'm just really self-conscious!

Be strong now, because things will get better.
It might be stormy now, but it can't rain forever. <3

You dont need to be self conscious about it. i have scars on my stomach and both arms and today someone pulled my shirt off in the locker room. I just told them that i am who i am and they need to accept it. If you dont want to do that then you can use make up to cover the scars.

Hey there,

I'm really sorry you're going through this at the moment.
First of all you shouldn't have to be ashamed of who you are, you're beautiful just they way you are, and anyone that makes fun of you isn't worh it.
Perhaps you could talk to you coach or whoeer is in charge of your dance and mention to them that you're worried about it and see what they can do.
Also things like makeup or bracelets can help to cover it.

If you ever want/ need to talk,
feel free to PM me
Take care
Charli

There's no need to be ashamed. You can just tell the people who make fun of you (IF they make fun of you, that is.) to just mind their own business. You're special in your own way and no one can change that. Although yes, you can always use makeup and/or accessories to cover up the scars if you need to.

This is wear foundation becomes your best friend. Use a brush so that goes on smoother. I'm a figure skater, so I know what you are going through. Obviously nothing is going to cover them up totally, but it will help. It sounds hard to do, but just ignore the cuts and maybe other people will too. I did this competition where I had to wear a short sleeved dress (my coach insisted) and I just sat there staring at my cuts while in the stands. Stupidest thing ever because it brought attention to them!
