Cutting -
January 11th 2012, 10:39 PM
I do not cut myself, but a few weeks ago I found out that my girlfriend did.
For New Years Resolutions, I decided to be there for her through anything and she decided to not cut herself. There was a day that she became super stressed and depressed because we made a request for the couselors office and we still haven't been called in. She told me she stared at the scissors for ten minutes. That's when I was speechless. I mean what could I have said? And thats the question: What do I say/do when my girlfriend wants to cut herself? -MidnightRush

I understand that it stresses you out, but you have to stay calm, for both your health and hers. When she wants to cut, be there for her. Hold her, talk to her, or just sit there with her. Tell her that she can get through it. Tell her how much you care about her. It's not necessarily what you say that is going to convince her to stop, it's what you do. You can tell her you care all you'd like, but you have to show her that you support her, and that you're going to be there for her. If she has an urge, take her out and away from what she finds triggering. Take a walk, listen to music.. Just be there for her.
