help? - January 15th 2012, 02:15 AM

My sis and I are starting soccer season on Tuesday- it's just conditioning right now.

She's quite worried because she has scars on her arms, and she doesn't want people to notice or make fun of her.

Our coach knows that she hurts herself, (coach is also the school counselor) but we haven't talked to her about my sister's fears.

any ideas on how to make her feel better, how to hide her cuts, or how to deal with talking to the coach and the other students?

Well try make up and if that doesn't work try wearing long sleeves sport shirts and if that doesn't work just STICK IT OUT....people shoulnt even make fun of it because it's Serious not comedy and I would just tell the coach to let the team know that y'all are a team so when one goes through something they all go through it, they should be encouraging not discouraging...good luck and hope everything goes well (:

Hey there,

Things such as makeup and long sleeves can help to cover the scars. Also Bio oil and things similar will help the scars to fade.
Perhaps you could encourage your sister to talk to the coach about it and the coach could help her?
She shouldn't have to be ashamed or her scars, or be worried about people making fun. She's beautiful just the way she is.

Feel free to PM me if you ever want/need to talk
Take care,
Charli

We're planning on talking to Coach on Tuesday. But we're part of a small school, and she's right- people will most likely talk about her and make fun of her. Coach doesn't want her in long sleeves, but we're going to try with make-up- we were thinking an armband might work also... I just don't want it to be a bad experience, she's had a hard enough time. Coach talking to the team seems like a good idea, also. Thanks, guys!
