what happened to my scars? - January 21st 2012, 09:58 AM

Okay so this is a bit of an odd question, but I just don't get it!
I cut on the underneath of my arm and the cuts I make aren’t as deep as some peoples but when I cut I have to stand there for almost 20 minutes trying to stop the bleeding. But 3/4 weeks later when the cuts are gone there are NO scars in sight. When I do it on the top of my arm the scars are there for 2 years or more after before they even start to fade. I don't understand why the underside of my arm doesn't scar? Why is this?

When your in danger or in harms way its no longer just your life, its everyone who you have seen, spoken to, met, shared experiences with because even if you don't think that they have had an influence on your life or made you realise something, you have probably influenced them. Your never the only one involved in your life.

The only thing I can think of is that the skin is different. If you feel the top of your arm, it's quite firm but underneath, it's less so. I think that maybe this affects the healing process differently.

Kate's right, the skin is different and it scars differently. I scar differently on the top of my arm than I do the bottom of my arm as well, and still different on my leg. It also depends on how bad the cut is to begin with

Take me seriously.
I dare you.

It probably has to do with the skin being different. Also, I've noticed that the skin on the underside of my arms is more sensitive, so I tend not to go as deep there. That might be part of the reason for you.

Hmmm I've noticed that too.. i cut the top of my arm (not deep at all) and 3yrs later the scar is still there yet I've cut the underside of my arm and in a few months later they'll be gone only my deeper ones stick around I'm not completely sure but I'm gonna have to agree with everyone else and say its probably the difference in skin.
