Why should I stop? - February 18th 2012, 06:11 PM

I need a reason to stop SH and I can't find any!

For me, it was always something I felt like I HAD to do to feel better. Since I've stopped, I learned better ways to handle the feelings and need for control.

Re: Why should I stop? - February 18th 2012, 06:55 PM

I am a slave too but here are some reasons:
-you deserve to be happy and not be addicted
-if you stop now then you won't have to hide cuts in the summer
-the paranoia about people finding out will go away
-you will be happier abd healthier physically abd mentally
-others around you will be happy you stopped
-you can use your time doing/thinking about better things than cutting
-it cancause infections and horrible scars
-you can cut too deep and bleed too much causing hospital needs
-depression improves the less and less you do it
-you won't have to deal with the shame and guilt it brings
I hope this helps. If you need anything you can PM me. I'm always here to help.

It makes me feel better, better than being without the pain. I want misery. Not happiness.

Re: Why should I stop? - February 18th 2012, 07:02 PM

Oh and also I forgot to say that I've been struggling with cutting for a while and have gone from doing it multiple times every day to this being my 25th day cut free. Soooo if I can do it so can you! it's very hard but I feel so much better now that I'm trying to stop. I still crave it every day but the cravings are less and less. For the first time in a while I can think about other stuff without my brain automatically trying to figure out when the next time I can cut is. It's really a breth of fresh air. I also just got put on lexapro a few weeks ago which has also helped a lot. if you feel like medicine would help you then talk to your parents and doctor about it. PM me if you need anything cuz I'm always here to help.
Best Wishes!

My problem- I don't care about scars. I love them. I don't care about what others think about this. I don't care about being hospitalized or infections. I am not ashamed, I am not guilty. And I don't want to be happy

Have you ever talked to your parents or a school councilor about this?

It makes depression worse.
It leaves scars you will regret.
You can get infections.
You could cut too deep and need serious medical attention.
If your friends and family find out it hurts them.
Would you cut your best friend?
Please stop. I know it's hard but it can be done. PM me if you ever want to talk

do you want to be miserable because you deserve to be unhappy? if so then its not true. everyone deserves happiness. please stop self harming for the sake of your friends and family as well as your own.

As I said before, I love my scars and don't care about infections and all that. But family and friends seems like a nice point. Thanks.

I want to be miserable because I like that feeling. I am more comfortable being miserable than being happy. Being miserable is the only thing I've ever known.

Hey I'm glad you are talking to a psychologist. Mine helps me a lot. I've been going for about 3 months now. At first if seems kinda pointless but the more you go the better you will feel. Also my neurologist put me on lexapro (anti anxiety/depression medicine) because I get horrible migraines and am depressed and have stress problems. It has worked wonders! I feel so happy like I did before I got into depression and cutting. If you talk to your parents and doctor this could be a nice option for you. It took about 2 weeks for it to kick in. I hope this helps. Best wishes. If you need anything you can PM me any time

You should stop for the people you'll meet in the future who'll love you. Your future kids?
