here's the thing, i started cutting a few days ago
i have to do it everyday now
it, it feels good

its my escape
i dont think its too good for me though
but how bad is it really?
i dont go too deep, so it should be fine
i was just wondering what other people might think

It's not good for you at all, it's a very unhealthy way to cope. Even though they aren't very deep they can leave nasty scars still...and just because it's not to deep now doesn't mean that it won't become deeper as time goes on. You really need to find other ways of coping though! Also, I think you should tell somebody about what you have been doing so that they can also support you through this rough time.

Also, it could easily turn into an addiction...the more you do it the harder it will be to stop! It would be so much better for you to give it up now than later on down the road!

all i want is a place to call my own and
mend the hearts of everyone who feels alone,
you know to keep your hopes up high and your head down low.

If you think you do, then go get it. Don't let it get worse.

Cutting yourself can easily become an addiction. I once cut myself, and it felt good at first but I regretted it later. I still get the urge to cut myself again. That's why I do the Butterfly project to make sure I don't do it again. Everytime I want to cut myself I draw a butterfly on my arm/wrist/hand. The you can't cut yourself until the butterfly goes away without scrubbing it. You name the butterflies after every person that you care about and know would miss you if something happened to you. harming yourself feels good. I'll admit that, but it just helps for a little while, so you do it again. And again. And again. And what do you know we have you have an addiction. I've seen people with cuts all over their arms, and I never want to see the day where those are my arms. Say you get better and your kids see the scars from the cuts and they ask what their from. Would you have the courage to tell them you did it? I wouldn't, so save yourself from that and don't cut yourself.

I think the universal opinion is that cutting/self harm/mutilation...whatever you want to refer to this as...is always a very dangerous thing and always requires some intervention to help address the underlying causes and teach new ways of coping with them. If it's an 'Addiction' or not is really irrelevant, either way the behavior itself is so dangerous that it requires help to control.

Tell some adult, show them what you;ve been doing to yourself, and let them help you properly!
