Is it normal to want to cut when you get really pissed off. like my mom just blew up at me like she does everyday and all i want to do right now is take a fucking knife to my hip. shes so fucking volatile i dont know how to please her. i get angry pretty often and always want to beat someone up or stab something, but cutting seems like it would work just as well.

I don't think this is normal. You should try to find somebody you can talk to. Maybe a counselor. I think that if you did something rash in a fit of anger, you'd regret it later. So try to think about that.

Hey there,

I'm really sorry things are hard for you right now. I think when people are Self Harmers, when they annoyed or upset thats what they turn to, so while it may be something people do it's really not good for you. The teenage years are hard and lot of people fight with their families, with the raging hormones and finding it hard to understand yourself it's easy to fall out with family, but you shouldn't hurt yourself over this.

I would suggest taking a look at the alternatives thread, these will help to distract you while the urges fade and give you time to calm down. Remember they are trial and error and therefore not all of them may work for you, but hang in there and you WILL find one that does.
Also perhaps you could talk to your mom about how she is making you feel, or another family member that you trust. That way you can be helped and supported through this.
