Unhappy So addicted - April 15th 2012, 03:56 PM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of self harm, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread might therefore not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

Why Can't I Stop? I'm 14, I first cut last year in seventh grade, and now I'm almost out of Middle School and I have over 200 cuts and scars. Everything is a trigger to me. When I'm sad, I want to feel a rush of adrenaline. When I'm frustrated, I want to take it out on myself. When I'm happy, I want to punish myself for it. I get desperate, I'll use absolutely anything to cut. I need help. I should be in a mental asylum, chained to a table. I'm never safe. I'm just looking for someone who understands. What should I do? What are other coping skills instead of cutting that sound like they could work for me? Um....will anyone talk to me? I need people who understand. I'm so lost

I completely understand. I've been going through the same thing for almost my entire life. It's tough.
First of all, well done for realising that you need help.
I personally suggest you let someone you trust know. It's incredibly difficult to do, but it is very likely to help when someone else knows. Maybe your best friend, or a parent.
Another option is to go to talk to a professional who has previously dealt with self-harmers.

Remember, you're only fourteen, you have your whole life ahead of you, and it will be brilliant.

If you want to talk, just PM me.

Do not base your happiness off someone else.

I know exactly how you feel! I went through the same thing. I totally agree with BreakingBecci telling someone you trust like a good friend or parent can really help.
