Question Being told we should have been aborted. @_@ - January 15th 2017, 04:29 AM

Sorry if this is in the wrong section. I didn't know where to put it, so please bear with me! ^^
I'm a girl on the autism spectrum (mentioned that once or twice before) and I'm getting close (if ya know what I mean :P) with a blind guy. I'm home schooled and he goes to public, but we somehow make it work. I recently went to a football game (meant to be a joke because I can't stand sports ) at his school with him and was introduced to some of his classmates. They found out I was an Aspie and of course they started saying the two of us had selfish mothers for not aborting us. (Which is odd because I didn't know I was on the spectrum til I was 15 >_>)
I never saw them again, but it certainly struck a nerve, especially with my friend. He turned to me when they were gone and said, "They act like I'm being tortured. Being able to see would be nice, but I don't really need it to live a decent life."
Can't say I relate, but it annoys me that people would say stuff like that to him! T_T (Doesn't bother me as much because there's no way my mom could've known about me beforehand. ) Am I thinking about it too much? Should I just ignore it? I don't even know what the heck I'm asking, I'm just so upset! ;_;

I don't think it's wrong to be upset about what they said at all. Those with disabilities or illnesses can live meaningful and great lives. They can be different and still live life to the fullest. Your lives do matter, and I'm really sorry that those other guys said that about the both of you.

Those other guys were really stupid for saying that, and while it was rude and inconsiderate, you shouldn't allow it to keep affecting you. I know that is easier said than done, but their opinion really does not matter and you should find other people to hang out with that don't say things like that that are hurtful and rude.
