Do you have a stutter? -
August 22nd 2010, 06:15 PM
Just a couple of questions.
You're welcome to respond even if you don't stutter, if you think you could throw something out there related to stuttering.

i sometimes have trouble getting words out, its more when im frustrated or nervous or if im in a large convasation and theres lots of people, or if i get interuppted when im talking its nothing major though. i find myself having a little trouble getting my words out, not sure if it counts as a stutter or not though. as its only in those sort of situations.

I don't have a stutter but I talk differently than other people.
Basically when I was little, I couldn't pronounce certain words haha. Over time, it developed into a British accent. ![]() Some people make fun of it, but most people love it.

I don't really have a stutter, but sometimes I do get a slight one. And often when I'm drunk, which is weird. I think generally it's because I sometimes try to talk faster than my brain is actually moving, I can be a chatterbox
But I can't explain the drunk one. It was really annoying when I was out a few weeks ago because I was trying to talk to these French people in French, and I was finding it so ahrd to say what I wanted to say ![]() I haven't figured out how I can deal with it yet, but soemtimes I try to slow down my words a bit. Wow, I really like this post
1.When did you begin stuttering? 2.Do you think there is a particular cause for your stuttering? 3.How does it effect you? 4.How do you cope with it? 5.Have you found any methods to help you with it? (: 1. I started when I was about 5, it came and it went, but now during my senior year, it's back. 2.Many speech pathiologist say it's because of being nervous, but i really don't think I am a nervous person. I really think it's just there. 3.It has made such a impact on my social life, many people tease me or they talk so down grading for how i can't speak, then don't know that your just like them, just can't talk as good. This is one of my main reasons I'm a shy person. 4.I normally just shrug it off when i get teased. To help with my suttering I like to pratice what I'm about to say over and over in my head. 5. Well, from pathiologist, I found that helpful suggestions like start overs, stutter on purpose (stutter out the first syllables quietly ex. ddou yyou wwant tto hhang oout), and give out as short answers as possible. I have more, if anyone wants, Id be able to tell you more in a PM
I'm living truth that the impossible is possible and life get's better for everyone. So please everyone don't give up; if I can make it so can you guys. ![]() I care for everyone of you <3, so no giving up! or I will cry ![]() "a true person get's up and walks on a fresh cut; while the rest sits down and cries" ![]() We were granted life out of the million other unlucky ones, because we had the most potential for a happy, successful life. ![]() Buddy 12-17-2011 Social Networking Team 08-25-10 |

I also get this. Especially when I'm reading numbers. Reading phone numbers and codes is hell!

I do not have a stutter on a consistent basis. When I do, it is usually caused by extreme nervousness, like some public speaking. It does not effect me too much. It's just like "whatever" and just move on. I take deep breaths whenever I get nervous, and that usually helps.

Questions Two: Nope, my parents said I stuttered since they remember me first speaking. Question Three: It made things really hard for me because I was never confident speaking outloud and I was always made fun of. Question Four: .. bleh. Question Five: Even though I stuttered, I also had a lisp. And both of those made me very self-consious about speaking, but I loved to sing. So I joined choir when I was in sixth grade, and I began to sing ALL THE TIME. After a year of choir, my lisp and my stuttering was completely gone. It was amazing. I've heard of other people who lost their stuttering through singing too. So singing definitely helps! There's no one else as lovely as you, and no one else has my heart. <3 Please don't tell me that I'm the only one that's vulnerable. |

I don't have a constant stuttering problem, but I do have a hard time getting words out sometimes because of my nervousness and anxiety.

I sprained my jaw once and had a lisp... it comes back sometimes... you never know how much you use the letter S until you can't...
