I really think i have MS - October 18th 2010, 05:09 PM

I'm beyond scared shitless.
Just typing this is hurting me so much.

As you all know, i've been really worried thinking that i have MS but i haven't got checked out because i know how it will destroy my mom.

Thing is, i'm feeling so ill atm that i can barely get my arms and legs to work. It really really hurts. I've been in tears all day in school.
It's like, these really nasty shooting pains, plus awful aching all over my body and theres like, a gurgling, in my joints. it's horrible and sooo painfull.

My mom was really nasty about it at first but i think she's actually realising how much pain i'm in and she's getting worried.
I don't think i've ever been in so much pain before, and this scared

you should see a doctor. it may not be MS, it might be something else. my mum is a physio, and she has treated someone with MS , so if it MS your doctor should be able to give you something to help, physio helps lots (so my mum says and she has treated someone with MS)

BROKE
the girl who seemed strong
CRUMBLED
the girl who always laughed
CRIED
the girl who never stopped trying finally
GAVE UP

she let her fake smile fade and as she did a tear rolled down her cheek and she whispered

' i can't do this anymore'

Those symptoms could mean something else, but it could be MS too. You won't know what it is for sure until you speak to a doctor and get a diagnosis. I know it will be very scary, but you need to see a doctor if you have any concerns about your health. I know your mum will be upset too, but it's better to find it sooner rather than later, and you could get the help you need for it.

I hope things go okay, take care.

I strongly encourage you to get checked out. If you start early treatment if it is MS, it could improve your quality of life.

You don't know anything medically until you talk to a doctor. Got the flu when I was in costa rica my parents flew me to closest hospital thinking it was Malaria.

As other people have said, go to the doctors, I'm sure your mother would rather you go to the doctors as well O.o

Do you know of anyone in your family who has MS? Usually it is genetic. I know people who have it. It could really be anything. Try not to overreact about it though, like don't get worked up about it til you see your doctor.

Hey Erin,

I'm sorry that you are scared about having MS. Honestly though, you can't know for sure unless you go to a doctor which I strongly suggest you do. In the meantime, try to stay calm <3

Hey there,

Obviously we cannot give a diagnosis, the only way to find out for sure is to see a doctor. The more you think about having a specific condition, though, the more likely you are to realise different symptoms and begin to self diagnose! It's nothing to worry about until you see your doctor.

Yes, I'm supporting Tayla's comment here because it is important your Mum has to know. And you see a doctor.

Okay, your Mum will be upset. But what loving mum wouldn't be? She loves you dearly, but isn't any way going to be angry.

I'll say also that it is all too easy to self-diagnose, especially as there are many websites offering this - BUT - you could be wrong. It's so easy get the wrong impression and miss-read online diagnosis, especially when you're feeling vulnerable. For the only person who is qualified will be your doctor.

.. just talk to your Mum. Be brave. She will understand, but give her space to freak out if she needs. It's not going to hurt your Mum going off like a volcano. In many ways it's a safety valve instead of bottling up feelings.

I might miss this thread especially as posts move so quickly, so when you get somewhere with your doctor, could you VM me sometime? I'll be praying for you.

As everyone else has said, get yourself to a doctor fast.
Reading your symptons, I really think it might be severe Fibromyalgia, but as I said, only am edical professional can diagnose you
*hugs*

Try this link. I'm not trying to worry you even more, but from what you've described, I doesn't sound like MS to me. Again, I'm not a doctor, so I can't be sure.
However, I really, REALLY think you have this, or a severe form of it:

The shooting and aching pain you have sounds like fibromyalgia.
I wish I was doctor though so I could save you the worry.
Take care

Hey, please don't stress! I would go to the doctors and get checked out, since MS doesnt normally get to the severity you describe until a much older age.

HOWEVER! When I was around your age, I had shooting pains all over, aching joints and I collapsed frequently. I was on crutches for about a year... BUT this was growing pains... You're only 14, it may well just be this too

I'd take some Muscle relaxants to help with the pain, and head to the doctors. *hugs*
