My ex boyfriends younger sister is profoundly deaf but had a cochlear implant so she could hear. I learnt sign to be able to talk to her when she has her implant off. I am still learning British Sign Language now even though we have split up because I enjoy it and will be useful in my future career.

If you find it hard to hear then you should probably have someone check it out. Maybe it's a hearing loss or it could be a bockage of ear wax. Either way it's best to have a doctor check it. Good luck

I'm having a brainstem implant because I have NF and my Audiotory nerve (not cochlea) is damaged , you only get offered one if you have Nf - which is rare. This is why I am leaving soon ,l to have an A.B.I and it is a long recovery time :/
It looks like a cochlea implant externally. Wire , mic , y'know , and there is an internal magnet to made it stay on but inside it is an electrode on the brainstem, that stimulates the hearing nerves

Also post above , I have hearing loss , so don't worry They just don't think a hearing aid will help as my nerves are damaged due to tumors which one is being removed and aan A.B.I put in.

I'm about 30-45% deaf in my left ear and I am slowly moving towards 50-60% hearing loss, it's due to a tumor pressing on my ear drum and fluid and also me wearing the wrong kind of headphones and blasting my iPod at 95% volume aka almost max volume, and because I was right next to speakers at concerts and never wore earplugs but I do now and I also have a hearing aid.
So in a short answer yes I am hearing impaired

I've had a hard time hearing after my second major surgery (I think). Part of the process was to put tubes in my ears (which is kind of irrelevant to what they were doing, but whatever). The surgeon ripped huge holes in my eardrums, and they were never able to heal. So then I had about six surgeries after that where they fixed my eardrums and rebuilt my inner ear (I don't know what the correct term for that is) because there was something else wrong (I was only, like, 6). My final two surgeries that completes the process was about 4 years ago I believe. I still have a hard time hearing, but it's not that bad. And I am grateful for that.

They were fixing a "hole" in the roof of my mouth (cleft palate). Luckily, it was only in the inside of my mouth, because a lot of people get it on the outside too (lip). They thought tubes would help prevent an infection and help in general but it obviously didn't.
