Disabled models? -
August 9th 2011, 12:05 PM
Are there any modelling companies for disabled people?
I have facial palsy and am deaf and get a bit disorentated sometimes because of my condition but I do like the way I look and I have a tall but small body ![]() I know it's a long shot, but I think an oppotunity like this would help me mingle with others like me and help boost my confidence. I'd really like to try it, so any ideas? xx |

I saw a tv show called Britains Missing Top Model, a modeling competition for disabled girls. There might be things similar to this around or if you are in the UK and they are making another series you could try out.
Here are 2 links to information about it: http://www.bbc.co.uk/missingmodel/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Britain...sing_Top_Model Good luck

I'm also going to see the disabled bit of college and oraginise a fashion show for the girls and boys with downs syndrome, in wheelchairs and other deaf kids. Hey there. Firstly, I'd like to say I admire your goal of being a model, despite your disability. I think that's brave of you to do and I also admire your courage. I found a website that could possibly help you called Models Direct. It could be a start so you could see what you want to do, and possibly give you connections to people who may be able to further help you. I hope this helps you. You can do anything you set your mind to, despite what others may say. Believe in yourself, you can do it. :]

I have no helpful advice, but I applaud you for wishing to be a model despite your disabilities.

As some others have said, the best thing to do is to research places in your local area. From what I've seen around recently, awareness has increased massively, so I think you stand a wonderful chance.
I'd also like to say how inspirational you are. This is an extremely brave and amazing thing to do, you should be very proud of yourself. And 'funny looking' is not the way to see it. You're beautiful, inside and out. Don't ever let it get in the way of anything. [And because I can: YOU GO GLEN COCO!] ![]() Just a hop, skip and a jump. |
