How can I know if I have ADHD??? -

Hello everyone,
Maybe I'm just going psych here for no reason, but I just want to share this with you. Since elementary school I had troubles with concentration and it was damn hard to stay focused on just one thing at a time. So later on I didn't do as well in math and languages, but I was good at literature. On the big scale I've got good marks and was a smart kid, but still had lots of unfinished projects that I have started but never finished... My Mom says that I can't stay still and I'm always getting anxious for no reason that I just need to do one thing at a time and there won't be problems at all. But that is what the most difficult for me. Is it possible that I have ADHD? What can I do to make this situation better? Hopes are to keep us alive, dreams are to make us fly, both are to be found around so keep searching =)

Here at TeenHelp, we cannot provide a diagnosis, as no one here is a professional doctor. My best advice to you is to talk to your mom about making an appointment with your doctor. They can provide you with advice as to what to do in your situation. If you'd like, you can read about the diagnosis of ADD/ADHD here. Anyways, there are a lot of things that could account for distractability, ADHD being just one. Think: all the things that can make your nose run or make you sneeze.
The best way of determining ANY condition is to go to a professional who specializes in the assessment and treatment of the symptoms you have. So, in your case, a Psychologist with a PhD or PsyD would be your best bet. PM me with the link of the post you'd like me to respond to.

The best way to find out if you have ADHD is either to get your Dr/GP test you r to refer you to an educational psychologist who will do a few tests involving concentration and memory and mind tests on you . And then they will tell you whether or not you do have ADHD.
