My OCD - September 10th 2014, 09:28 AM

Recently my OCD has been getting worse. I am constantly washing my hands and I am starting to get terrible dry skin in between my fingers and on the bottom of my fingers but don't have much in my palm yet.
Does anybody have any suggestions of what I could put on them to help the dry skin settle down?

I have OCD and have the same washing issue as you and used to use Atrixo but it was kind of greasy and I kept washing it off.

There is Aveeno which is good. Although I've only ever used their face cream, mainly because they can be a bit expensive, it was definitely worth it. https://www.aveeno.co.uk/products/hand-cream

I struggle with that, too. My hands tend to get worse in the winter time. Eucerin Intensive Repair is really helpful, however, it does burn your hands. It might help if you wear gloves or socks over your hands at night and apply the lotion then. Good luck finding something!

I'm sorry you're struggling with this. I know your OCD isn't the main focus in this topic, but I still thought I'd ask - have you talked with a therapist about this? It might be a good idea so that you can work on overcoming some of the habits associated with OCD such as this one.

As for your dry skin, have you ever heard of a lotion called Gloves In a Bottle? It's a shielding lotion and made so that your skin absorbs it quickly and to help your skin keep its natural moisture. On top of that, it's waterproof so that may help a lot in your situation.

Hope this helped!

Hey,
My Nanna gave me some of the lotion you have just mentioned
The last time I went to see a therapist about it, it didn't go too well

Really? What a coincidence! I hope it helps, keep me updated if you don't mind. I don't want to go off-topic, so I'll send you a PM regarding the therapist.

Re: My OCD - September 14th 2014, 03:34 AM

I've used something called 'Paw Paw Cream' in the past when I've had dry skin and that really helped for me.
Also, whenever I go to bed, I put normal body cream on my hands every night.
I've used Vaseline when before I've gone to bed as well which helped after I applied the cream.
Hope you find something!
