Angry This blumming site... - August 6th 2009, 12:45 PM

Hey
Let's get something straight: I don't get addicted. I used to smoke, it was easy to quit -I was never addicted. I love my alcohol... I don't need it. I suppose you could say I'm addicted to chocolate, because I get ratty if I go for more than like 4 days without any. You could say I'm addicted to coffee, because it's rare for me not to have my 1 coffee a day... But I'm not really addicted to anything....
Until I came on this site.. I can't go without my couple of hours fix of TH ... grrr. This is actually crazy... but kind of funny considering I don't get addicted and I'm addicted to a website...

Try doing stuff that you enjoy, outside of the computer. Maybe some outside activies?

I get this a lot, like a craze with a certain website. Over time it goes away. Or when you've done it to death.

How about counting how many hours you're on TH and then reducing it by 15 minutes a day or something until youve reached a comfortable time period to be on it.

Hey There,

I can understand that this website can be very addictive. Reducing your time on it each day could help, as Sammy suggested, you could reduce by 10 or 15 minutes until you reach a comfortable time.

Then once you are off, you could do something else like exercise, or try doing something else to distract you. What could really help actually is the alternatives thread in the self harm forum. I'm not sure you've looked into it before, but it's a good sticky that you could look into to help your addiction.

I hope this helps you. and I hope that you can overcome this! but at least this is a healthy addiction eh? haha maybe.

Take care,

Hey
Thanks peeps.
It's not like TH is taking over my life. In fact, I love this site, it's helping me a lot. However, I'm not too happy about the fact I spend more time on here most days than actually socialising... How do I cut down on it... because in some ways I don't want to cut down on using TH... and in other ways I do...

Re: This blumming site... - August 13th 2009, 11:15 PM

Usually (although this doesn't always work) I limit myself, I check for VMs/PMs in the morning before I go out, then I forbid myself to sign in until the evening which is when I spend hours just wondering about. This way I'm still spending time with my friends during the day and avoiding what used to be "unhealthy socialising" for me which was parties etc. where I'd just end up an utter wreck.

Maybe you could work out a similar balance with real life/teen help?
