Slowly becoming a workaholic - November 23rd 2009, 06:15 AM

I feel that the more my mom gets mad at me, the more I feel the need to be away from her, and since I have little to no time to relax, I have tried to be at school as much as possible, even trying to get extra tutoring or studying late. Is this normal?

Hey there,
I don't think it's a matter of whether it's normal or not. Everyone deals with problems with family members in a different way. Some try to stay out as much as often while others just shut themselves in their room. As long as you still have some time to have fun or just relax studying hard isn't so bad. You don't want to stress yourself out too much though. If you feel you need the extra tutoring then it's fine. Otherwise, you are probably just stressing yourself out more than you need to be. Try to find healthier ways to occupy your time. Go to a friends house and do homework there. Go to the library and find some new books or go to the movie theatre. You just don't want to shut yourself out from everything and everyone around you. Maybe even talk to your mom and try to resolve the problems with her. Communication is the key.
Take care,
Alessa

Whatever it is, chances are I've been there.
If I can make it out, you can too.
