Thumbs down Facebook. - December 26th 2009, 03:44 AM

It started as a fun thing; everyone else had one, why shouldn't I? This year, however, it has spiraled into an addiction. I have to check it, it's not a huge deal if I can't but if I can then I just have to. I don't really want to, but something is compelling me to do it.
How can I stop, or at least cut down on my usage?

Well... maybe you could break yourself of the addiction slowly. For example... use it ten minutes less a day, until you're only using it thirty minutes or so daily. Or you could try making a "No Facebook Day," where you don't use Facebook at all. You'll see it gets easier as it goes on. Good luck!

Oh, and if the reason you are addicted is because it helps you keep in touch with friends/family... trying doing it in other ways. Like phone calls, texting, e-mail, snail mail, video chats, IMs... there's lots of ways. Good luck again.

Hi Cheyenne,

I like what Meaghan said. I used to always go on Facebook, I'd spend most of my days off on Facebook. However, now I'm always logged into it, but very rarely use it. Try and do something else to drag you away from your computer, like go out for walks, or help out the family.

Or you could do what I did, and get addicted to TeenHelp! Anything can help with that addiction. Good luck!

Cool Re: Facebook. - December 26th 2009, 02:14 PM

try removing anyone who is not someone you know in person, and anyone who you do not talk to - this may limit the activity somewhat and it will take less time to work through
