I feel that I may be addicted to texting..... I sometimes send and receive over 300 a day. Now, the thing is, I have an unlimited texting plan, so there is really no monetary incentive to stop. I just feel it is getting in the way of my studies. Any ideas about how to stop?

Well, you could MAKE a monetary insentive. Take off the unlimited plan and BOOM; you'll either stop or pay a huge bill.
You could take the battery out of your phone and hide it from yourself. You could put it on silent too. |

You can have a set time to study, and if you don't feel strong enough to shut your phone off, maybe you can have your parents intervene.
Dependant upon which phone company you have, some you can activate your phone for certain parts of the day. Like, for example. AT&T and T-Mobile, have this thing where they can disable your texting for certain times of the day. ![]() I was looking for a breath of life For a little touch of heavenly light But all the choirs in my head say, no oh oh |

I dont think keeping your phone at the other end of the room would help much... Coz youd always be thinking about going to get it! and if your like me, theres a natural mould now in my pockets where my phone is designed to fit perfectly, so if you had your phone away from you, it would feel unnatural (hope you understand that!). I think that if you keep it in your pocket, but switched off, that could help. If not, then give it to your mum, or friend or someone to keep until youv finished your studies.
I think that moving on a Pay as You go plan would just not work and burn quite a large hole in your pocket! and it would make you feel guilty every time you texted someone! Which isnt a nice feeling. If you seem to be texting your friends when you aren't studying (like weekends holidays etc) try texting something like "want to meet up?" then you can talk to them in person, and if you meet them, there is no need for texting!
During study time, set yourself a time that you need to actually study, even if its 30min sessions for 2 hours, with like a 5 min break in between, then you can check your phone but try not to start any conversations. I dont usually promote facebook like this, but it doesn't cost lol! Also, that way, you can't talk all the time because your friends need to be online. Whereas with texting...they can be anywhere. And facebook gets boring when no one is on, so you won't stay on as long. I am a Proud Kiwi =)

I'm addicted to texting too. One thing I do when I have to stop (which is usually never, I get everything done), is to tell my parents to hide it. If I don't see it or hear the buzz, I don't text it.
