My Friend is a Sex Addict

My best friend is an admitted sex addict, but he doesn't want to change (or at least he says he doesn't, but i think deep down he really does.) He is gay and has sex with almost complete strangers all the time. I am really starting to worry about him. I know that eventually he will get some sort of std. What can i do to help him or get him help?

I dont think their really is such a thing as sex addiction. I think its just something Tiger Woods made up as an excuse. Im gay too, I have sex a lot, not with complete strangers though. Thats a little worrying, but other than that, normal.

Sounds more like your friend is having promiscuous feelings, you may find it helpful to research this.
Alot of the time there is a cause for promiscuity, has something happened to your friend in the past?
Therapy is really good for this, and maybe suggesting this to your friend rather than addiction may help the situation and help him to open up?

Well, there's a difference between being a sex addict and a SAFE sex addict. If he's using protection and being with a certain number of partners I don't see a problem. Tell him how you feel and what I just said. You just want him to be safe.

Just because someone has a lot of sex, It's not a bad thing. Some sexual appetites are stronger than others and It's hard dealing with that appetite when the only solution is... Sex.
