Disgusting Nervous Tick Thing? - September 27th 2011, 03:47 AM

I itch my head obsessively. IT's super disgusting and gives me icky dandruff, but I don't know how to stop. I don't even know why I do it. I noticed its mostly when I'm stressed, but it's totally gross.

How do I stop?

That's what I do! I use head and shoulders for dry scalp. It makes me want to scratch less. I also do it when I'm stressed. Using the dandruff shampoo discourages me from scratching.

I would suggest substituting this nervous behaviour for another one, e.g. doodling on paper or something.

Your body clearly needs a way to deal with the nerves, so trying to stop the tick altogether will be difficult. But finding something else (which doesn't damage your body) should be easier.

Thanks! This makes me feel so much better about it. I thought I was the only one .

I think I will.

I've been looking into it, and I think that I'm literally "Pulling my hair out" only its scratching, but its similar enough to have so psychological similarity.

I'll try doodling!

I used dandruff shampoo, but for some reason that made me scratch more. Albeit this test may have been done near finals, so it lacked a controlled test group LOL!
