Question Chewing on things? - January 24th 2012, 01:42 AM

Well, I almost always have to be chewing on something, or have something in my mouth. I get really irritable when I don't. Whether it be my nails, or 7 tic tacs, or some type of hair tie. Is there something I can do?

Have you tried nibbling chewing gum to help your craving? Chewing gum is safe to nibble on. Hair and your nails aren't really a good choice.

Knowledge is half the battle.

I have, but it gets really soft too fast, if you understand what I'm trying to say.

I have your problem as well, I also suck on things. Try sucking boiled sweets or chewing on toffee. This can be bad for your teeth though...try covering what you often chew with something bad tasting, but hairspray in your hair and paint your nails with nail varnish...this could deter you from chewing.

It happens to me too, and I get angry if the thing that im chewing goes soft too quickly. I find myself chewing on the lids of bottles without me even realising it.

I can chew pretty much anything, a paper bookmark, plastic cover on the TV remote, my books, literally anything without realising it!

Its easier said that done BUT most of the great things wouldn't have ever been done if they hadn't been said first.

Re: Chewing on things? - January 30th 2012, 08:38 PM

I feel more normal now :O
I always chew something, its ridiculous cause I chew lots of things to pieces and destroy them, like my pens in school
I used to chew my nails TONS and then I just stopped and without realising it, not long after I had been chewing all my pens and stuff, I'll keep things in my mouth, chewing them, like the lids of stuff, and I've accidentally swalloed some thing, not a good idea, I didn't mean to though lol
Well, I chew my earphones wire tooo, a lot, I broke several pairs within the soace of a couple months last year
I know a few people that get annoyed at me when i do it
I do it less when I'm more relaxed though, it seems to mainly be a nervous thing for me, I'm usually nervous though

Tell me and I'll forget;
Show me and I may remember;
Involve me and I'll understand.

Don't mind me, I'm just here for the cake.
