Do you Drive?! Consider the following. -

Hi Everyone!!
I hope you're having a dandy day. Do you drive? Are you thinking of getting your license someday? IF you are driving your car [OR are IN a car] at 60 miles per hour - you are moving forward at the rate of ONE MILE every minute. A mile is 5,280 feet. So for every ONE SECOND you are moving forward - at 60 MPH - you have traveled 88 feet. THINK ABOUT IT!! At 30 MPH you have gone 44 feet. IN ONE SECOND!! So don't assume that you can take your eye off the road. An awful lot can happen in just one second. Cell phones are bad enough. But at least while talking on a cell phone - you CAN keep your eyes [IF NOT all of your attention] on the road. But text messaging while driving is considerably more dangerous. Not only are you thinking about something else - you are LOOKING at something else!! The British police have created a graphic video [Consider that your warning!] to show the risks one takes while texting AND driving. But ANYTHING that distracts a driver and keeps him or her from watching the road - puts them AND everyone IN their car AND everyone driving around them - at risk. Click the link below to watch the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8I54mlK0kVw GREAT BIG HUG Craig!! Edit: I know Craig mentioned it before, but this is a very graphic video so anyone who is triggered easily, please use your best judgment before watching it. -Moyshi239 "It takes FAR MORE COURAGE to be KIND than it does to be CRUEL" - CanadaCraig

Oh God, that is awful.
I will think of this next time I am driving and using my cell. Why is it that the driver is always the one who makes it alive?? Everyone is born right-handed. Only the greatest overcome it. |

I'm not going to watch it, lol. I'm not sure what's in the video.
I think the cell phone law is a good law. At least here, you're not allowed to talk on the phone or anything when you're driving without a bluetooth, ect. Geek? Nerd? wow that is a real eye opener of how quickly things can happen. This is the type of movie they need to show in schools/autoschools not the rail to rail films from like the 50's and 60's. It would make teen drivers think twice about taking their eyes off the road.

Hi Toast!!
![]() I hope you're OK. Alright then. For YOU [And all of my metric-minded brothers and sisters] IF you are traveling at a speed of 100 Km/h - you are covering a distance of 27.78 metres every ONE SECOND!!!! I hope that helps. GREAT BIG HUG Craig!!

Hi Rudhayaini!!
I hope you're having a super duper day!! Don't allow the mistakes other people make scare YOU!! Driving is a wonderful thing. I've been driving for over 30 years now. And I absolutely love it. And I've even taught a few people how to drive too. The problem starts when the driver STOPS!! In other words - when the driver stops driving. He or she is NOT paying attention to the road. But really... that's just logic when you think about it. Would you go for a walk with your eyes closed?! Probably not. But that's what distracted driver's are doing when they're not paying attention to what's going on. It's like their driving with they're eyes closed. If you - or anyone else - would like some 'free driving advice' I'll be more than happy to help out in any way I can!! Just PM me or whatever and I'll do my best!! I love teaching people how to drive!!! GREAT BIG HUG Craig!! "It takes FAR MORE COURAGE to be KIND than it does to be CRUEL" - CanadaCraig

Haha! It's okay, I know how to convert. I was just surprised you were using miles since our road speeds are kilometres.

Around here, it's illegal to talk/text on a cell phone while driving unless you have a headset, and when you're under 18 you're not allowed to use a cell phone at all when you're behind the wheel. I think it's a good law, but people break it all the time.
Everyone's so flippant about it. I have family members who drive when they're buzzed or have long phone conversations while they're going 80 miles per hour. My friend texts while she's driving and I hate it...especially since she's been in four accidents in the past two years. Ugh. I think the reason the driver always lives in these videos is so you can see their remorse and imagine what it'd be like to be responsible for your friends' deaths. It's a good scare tactic.
