My Goals - August 28th 2012, 06:47 AM

1. Make a difference.
When I grow up I want to be a phsycologist or a scientist (to discover cures for orphan diseases or cancers), or if possibe both. Mum said if you set your mind to it, you can acomplish anything, especially with my intellegence. I'd travel half-way around the world if it meant I could make someone's life worth living.

2. Reach a decent weight.
I've been over-weight as long as I remember. I don't wanna look anorexic, just normal. Don't think I'm just paranoid of my weight like lots of girls - if i was, I wouldn't be able to admit I'm close to my goal. Sooooo close! I NEVER thought I'd be able to look down and not see a huge lump or look in the mirror and see a slim person. I never thought I'd be able to run around. I'm husky, but I actually love that about me.

3. Find more true friends
Don't want 100, just more who I can trust. I don't only want people to be there for me, but I get a joy from being there for people (relates to goal 1). Because I'm bigger and stronger and physically tougher than most my friends, I am also like a bodyguard when they get bullied

So I'm curious, what are your long-term goals?

I love your first and third one! Sorry I'm slightly paranoid about the second because that's how my eating disorder started, but honestly you sound a lot more sensible than I was :P Can I just assure you that you're beautiful at any healthy weight?

Umm, I'm not sure about what counts as a goal. I would love to go to Oxford University, but that seems more like a dream. Also I have so little control over it. So for goals I'm thinking:

1) Write a book. Having it published would be great, but writing it is at least completely up to me.
2) Develop some kind of personality that I like
3) Help more people. I don't know quite how this would work, but I guess giving money to charity is a good start. I'd also like to be the 'nice friend', and stick up for people/things when I need to.

Good luck with your goals!

Those sound like really good goals, Alana! The first one especially, considering you aren't a teenager yet. Remember, you have five years ahead of you to decide what you want to do. If you really want to do this, you'll still have that commitment in five year's time. Also, as your mom said, if you put your mind to it you can do anything! Good luck.
