Smile It's time: New Years Resolution! - December 13th 2014, 02:10 AM

What is everybody's New Year's Resolution this year?

Mine is to manage my depression better so that I can be happy and more productive, and a good friend, girlfriend, and family member to those I love.

I agree with managing the depression/anxiety better.

I also am going to go to the gym, dammit!! I am actually buying gym pants this weekend (I have plenty of old T-Shirts I can throw on to work out in, but don't fit into the gym pants I have) so my brother in law can teach me how to use some of the equipment over winter break, and when next semester comes I'll become a member at my college's gym. I need to take control of my health. For real this time.

I was planning on making this thread. You beat me to it.

So my new years resolution:
- Quit smoking.
- Do well in all my exams, next year. So, basically I mean concentrate on my studies.
- Get my driver's license.
- Maintain healthy relationships and spend more time with the people I pushed away this year.
- Stop self-harming.
- Have a more positive year.

To be honest, I want a whole repackage. As in, leaving my area, get new friends I haven't had the oppertunity of meeting and experience new things, sadly, it isn't realistic as a whole, but some of it is feasable.

- Go out more.
- Improve in social skills.
- (Optional, altho I'm gunning for it.) Find a new girl to get Brittany more out of the sad part of my mind and into the past.
- Learn more.
- Meet new people. (Doesn't matter if it's from internet to real life or people I meet at a party)
- Stay as honest as possible (I'm a honest guy myself)
- Mount confidence

Re: It's time: New Years Resolution! - December 13th 2014, 11:16 PM

I have two big ones this year:

First, I want to learn more about cooking and become really good at it; I've never been much of a cook (just baking) and I really should learn considering I'll be getting married this Summer.

Second, I want to gain more weight. I know that sounds weird, but a medication I've been on caused major weight and appetite loss, so I want to work hard to eat more and put back on the weight I so unhealthily lost.

I love my Big Sleepy Bear.

I have the same every year. Two things.

Live true to myself and re-figure out who I am.

I'm saying, in a way, I never have any serious plans/resolutions.
It's fun and the year thing helps people organize themselves, but some have the wrong impression of this. Why wait the end of the year to think/talk about changing to better? Maybe I'm not getting the point of resolutions, which is a possibility. I'm just thinking, if someone really wanted to change themselves for benefit, they'd start right away.

I moved back while
my head was turned.

Upside down
closer to the end.

Afraid of the dark
within future times.

I'm drowning there,
my final chase.

Propably because setting a particular moment in time to start changing your life gives people a bit more freedom and time to peacefully end their old habits and behaviours... Sometimes it's difficult to drastically and suddenly change something, especially if it has to do with yourself. Maybe it works like an added motivation for people as well.

I myself don't have any. In the current moment I don't feel excited about either Christmas or my upcoming birthday (26th dec, lol). Only thing I'd like to do is propably rethink the last year of my life, what has happened and how did it influence me. Take the lessons, keep the best and work to avoid making same mistakes in the future. Improve my judgement and understanding of certain things in life, both referring to emotional and professional side of my life.

We'll see.

Who dares - wins.

I'm not really good with New Years Resolutions. I don't usually keep them. And hubby say why do it on New Years why not start tomorrow? Or even today?

a. Continue with psychologist
b. Prepare better for supervision
c. Watch my supposed "attitude"

1 B. If not, get a job and find a new career

2. Eat healthy (I never manage to keep this one)
