International Give-Yourself-A-Second-Chance Day. - October 17th 2015, 08:19 PM

So it's not actually called International Give-Yourself-A-Second-Chance Day, it's called Mulligan Day, the 17th of October.

Give yourself a second chance on Mulligan Day. Whether it is a former relationship with a friend or loved one, an old hobby that you abandoned or a past mistake that needs rectifying, you can give it another go on Mulligan Day.

Commonly used in games such as golf, the term ‘mulligan’ derives from the 1920s when Canadian golfer David Mulligan made a mistake during a game and retook his shot. Since then, to ‘call a mulligan’ means the chance to try again.

So, celebrate Mulligan Day by giving yourself another chance to do something that previously went wrong. Golf courses will usually hold a Mulligan Day celebration where golfers can play again for free at a later date. You could also join in by making Mulligan Stew which is a ‘second-chance’ meal made from the leftovers of previous meals.

What'll be your second chance? . I know these dedication days, there are so many of them and they are a little comical but they give people an excuse, a reason to rekindle a love for something or provide motivation. I crucially recommend you give yourself a second chance because it is something that we normally don't give ourselves permission to do.

So may we toast to David Mulligan, unlucky golfer, then originator of what is a great reminder of the opportunities for refreshment and regeneration in decision making.

A couple days late seeing this, I've never actually heard of the golfer nor the day but it sounds like something many of us could use. Not just on that 1 day but every day.

I am a couple of days late on seeing this but I really like the idea behind this day.
I have never heard of the golfer or the day either however I do know that giving second chances is refreshing!
I am going to move this to the goals and ambitions thread because I believe it would fit better there.

Well it does sound interesting enough to give it a chance. Ill choose to give myself a second chance and try to fight back the demons that have been tormenting me my whole life.

Even if I missed the actual date, I really like this concept! Thanks for sharing!
