2020 goals - December 29th 2019, 08:24 PM

Anyone have any goals they'd like to accomplish in 2020?


Most of mine are reading related:

- I want to read/listen to 60 books. I tend to read 100+ books in a year (261 so far this year) but I will be starting school and I feel like my reading will decrease. 60 is more doable because it's only like 5 books per month and even with school I think I can do it.
-I want to read between 3-6 larger books. The books on my list are between 650-850 pages. I count 500+ page books in this challenge but most of the books I am most interested in are about 650+
-I want to read about four hours per month. I usually read way more than this monthly but with school starting I might be exceptionally busy with school work and this goal would basically be 30 minutes twice in the week.
-I want to participate in one read a thon. The ones I am most interested in are Newts, Owls and Tometopple. I participated in quite a few readathons this year but with school starting I think picking one will be more doable.
-Not a book related goal, I want to try and work on my anxiety specifically I don't want to let my anxiety get the best of me when it comes to school. I am excited about starting but also nervous because I struggled with school due to my mental illness. I need to continue my education to do what I want.
-I want to reach out for help if I need it. I struggle with asking for help and with school starting I know I'll experience more stress and I might need to talk to the counselor at school or go to therapy a bit more. I want to do this if I need too

My goals are the following:

1) I want to work on self-love and increasing my self-esteem.
2) I want to care more about what I want/think and less about what others think of me.
3) I want to try more new things- eat new foods, go new places, meet new people, etc.
4) I want to write more. I started a little in the summer but I kind of dropped off.
5) I want to not pressure myself so much to do well in school. I know I'll do okay because I always do. I don't need the extra stress of being a perfectionist.
6) I want to practice healthier self-care. Right now most of my self-care revolves around food and while that's not exactly unhealthy there are still better things to focus on.
7) Speaking of food, I want to lose some weight. Nothing too crazy, but I do have a goal weight for the end of next year that I think is doable in a healthy way.

This is all I can think of for now. I'll write more later if something comes up.

Finish my thesis and GRADUATE.
Get my driver's license.
Lose weight in a healthy way.
Start managing my migraines.
Make an action plan for my mental health after I graduate.
Go on at least one overnight trip on a vacation. I went on a trip for a conference this year but I want to go somewhere to do something fun.

Loving myself unconditionally.
Eating a WFPB diet 90% of the time.
Allowing myself some time to feel good and have time off for me.
Meditiations in the morning at least twice a week.

I don't really have resolutions or specific goals, just a focus word to guide my thoughts and actions for the year. For 2020, my focus word is going to be persevere.

We should all presevere, Charlie. I think it's great to have a word that you hope to define yourself in the upcoming year.

I would like to...

Read a book a season, which totals to four books a year. No excuses now I have my Kindle.
Work on moving further along with my writing skills and the ability to write longer pieces.
Stay focused on what's important, whether that be my work or my health.

I would say those are the biggest three. Then there are more smaller, trivial ones.

I want to do well at my job.
Have clients and be able to maintain them.
Improve my deadlift because it's been stuck on the same weight for ages since I'm not always able to use the deadlifting platform and there isn't always space elsewhere.
Focus on better form with pullups and tricep dips.
Improve my cardio since my job requires it.
Achieve my 3 Level 4 qualifications.
Pay off my course.
Return the money I had to loan from a friend in order to continue paying.
Work on improving my glute strength. I seem to be one of very few, females at the gym who don't care to grow a butt the size of a car and it has meant that my sumo squats can be pretty poor despite having good quad strength.


Life is for living, not for losing.

I'm terrible at setting goals so I don't really have much planned or stuff that I want to do. My goal should be to set goals

I'd like to graduate with a Masters. Right now, I'm not really sure of that, and though I don't want to stress over it, as I don't need a Masters, it would be nice to have.
Work towards getting a job. I know previous years, I might've said things like 'get a job' but I've been thinking more realistically about what I can handle and I've seen one or two jobs that I think I could do, maybe if I got some experience in that area. There's also other places I'd like to volunteer with but have to be careful so that I don't take on too much!
Exercise or go out more. I was doing better with this one but have recently stopped so I want to get back into it.
Pick up a hobby or go somewhere new or something...just not sure what.
Embrace and accept myself for who I am. Sounds weird but I've realised I've spent a lot of my life trying to be something I'm not, and trying to repress all the things I like/want/am interested in.
