ideas for Volunteering? - December 25th 2009, 02:45 PM

I started off by thinking about next year during christmas I would like to have a volunteer group i am creating to get together and do something special for the less fortunate, for homeless and for an orphanage. I do have some ideas, such as for the homeless to take a small meal and maybe a christmas card (giving thought to making a generic card option) which the card can be made by kids in an orphanage. If this is successful i could do the same during other holidays as well with other ideas.

However, on the subject of volunteering in general, what sort of activities would you like me to suggest to my volunteer group? I will consider all ideas for my message board and put them all together in a monthly newsletter.

Bake Sale
You said you made bead things (forgot what they're called) so you could make some and sell them.
Hold a raffle.

I tutor at a homeless shelter. It's very rewarding and I only have to give an hour a week to put a smile on a child's face and help them do better in school. You could also volunteer at an animal shelter by taking dogs out for walks and cleaning cages. You can serve meals at a soup kitchen or a food pantry. Help out at an elderly living facility. Like bring games or arts and crafts to do with them. Or you can help out at a place for kids with disabilities. Just playing games, music, or arts and crafts always put a smile on their face. Let me know what you choose!

Whatever it is, chances are I've been there.
If I can make it out, you can too.
