getting there, baby steps

simple goals that are tough! -

I wrote a list of short term goals yesterday - just things that need doing... getting back to normality...
it includes -apply for a new job -clear out my email inbox -clean my room -do the shopping -check my accounts -sort some presents out for friends It made me sad that one thing on the list was open the curtains - it is so simple, but I haven't wanted to for so long... I didn't tick any off today...  but I am feeling a bit more positive about it, even to just have a list of things to do!Tomorrow I need to call a counsellor to arrange to meet with them - I want the help and need to move forward, but having to say what I've gone through wont be fun. Goal for tomorrow: Ask for help, make the call - I will make sure I can tick this one of my list  Baby steps! I haven't had a drink the last few days, which is what I usually hide behind... My goal is a week sober (then another then another...) 2 days so far on the right track!

Well done you! I think it is a great idea to set yourself some goals to work towards. Keep at it and you will eventually get there

You can do it
Accomplish smaller goals first and then you'll be more comfortable with long-term goals as time goes on.

Hey there,
Congratulations on making yourself a list of things to do! When I need to get things done I usually write a list of all the things I need to do too because I'm the type of person that if something on the list isn't ticked off then it really annoys me until it is done. Anyway, I'm sure that you can achieve everything you've written down and those baby steps are the steps that lead to making the big things happen so well done! You should be super proud of yourself for going to ask for help because admitting that you have a problem and need help can be one of the hardest steps you have to do so congratulations, you're really brave. Please do let us know how you get on and everything.Take care and keep on going!
