Starting a Non Profit to Help Depression

Hello everyone. Recently I have been having ideas about making a non profit company that will help in aiding those who have been bullied and have depression. I figure I can achieve two goals at the same time. I can have a career with a salary to support a wife and family and I can try and help stop bullying and help people with depression. I'd like to do like special retreat like events where I can help people directly and other things like that. But I'm not sure where to start. Can anyone help me out?

Ah, what nice goals. Your intentions seem very admirable. Let me just begin by saying that the path of developing a non-profit is not an easy one to take. It takes lots of energy, time, and financial resources. You have to be willing to hit a financial rock bottom to pick your organization up off the ground.

Are you in school? I recommend taking classes in Not-for-Profit Business Management and other courses along those lines, possibly including marketing as well. If I were you, I'd actually start out by trying to get a job at an already established organization. You need to be able to see the ins and outs of how NFPs work before you try to make your own, I imagine...

I'm already on that. I am majoring in business at college. But I am also having trouble with coming up with ideas of what to do. Like I want to find creative things do. But I'm not sure what.
