Small Girl, Big Difference - November 27th 2011, 12:42 AM

I want to make a difference somehow. I'm not sure how I will do that yet but it is something I've always hoped I can do. But I need to find something I can do on my own to make a difference. I was really hoping to donate to a cause, most likely cancer but I don't know how I would do that all by myself. It would really mean a lot to me to be able to do that.

If you're looking for suggestions I have a few:
You could walk/run in charity marathons.
You could volunteer at shelters (for people or animals).
You could volunteer at hospitals/libraries/schools.
You could plant trees with a local eco-group (usually affiliated with a state park).
You could tutor your peers or children (or anyone, really) in something you're good at.
You could create something (a collection of paintings, a song) and show it off locally and donate the profits.

It's so awesome that you want to do that! There are so many ways that you can give back! Maeve gave some fantastic suggestions! One other thing you might want to think about is clubs at your school. I know there are a lot of clubs at my school that are dedicated to community service and helping those less fortunate. If you have some on campus, check them out. If you don't have any, talk to your ASB advisor or your principal about starting your own. Good luck with your search!
