A completely insane idea -
January 5th 2012, 01:29 AM
I love music. It's one of the few things in my life that holds me together. Anyway, about a year ago, my friends wanted to create a song which we never got around to doing. Since then, I have been facinated by the idea of creating my own songs, possibly an entire album.
I really want to create an album with my a few of my best friends' help and they want to also, but I'm not sure how seriously they all take me. I have one friend that is starting to learn the guitar and another that is starting to learn the piano (which I am relearning just for the heck of it). I was thinking my other friend or possibly myself (not sure if I'm good enough or have the courage to) will sing. The drums and bass will be done using an online website since I don't have any friends who play either. I don't want my family to know about this because they would think it's stupid and I'm embarressed. I guess what I am asking is, is anyone out there good at creating tunes for rock songs? I have lots of song lyrics but I suck at coming up with tunes and how to sing it. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. And somehow now you're everybody's fool. ~Evanescence
You don't know what it's like to be like me. Welcome to my life. ~Simple Plan I'm not perfect, but I keep trying. ~Hedley Maybe we'll turn it around, 'cause it's not too late; it's never too late. ~Three Days Grace Nothing's ever easy, and if it is, you're not trying hard enough. The best way to get revenge on someone who has hurt you through the years is to smile at them as though you have never cried any tears. |

I think you're facing what every aspiring, new musician goes through. Getting started. It's awesome that you have a group of friends willing to support you and help you. But if you don't think that they are going to take this seriously, then talk to them. Simply say "hey, this is really important to me. I want to know that you're going to take this seriously and not bail on the group" If they say they will, believe them. If they and up screwing around.. either kick them out of the group or talk to them about their behavior. This is YOUR dream. You can make it happen. If they choose to be not committed, keep moving forward. Find new people for your group, or go solo. A lot of bands break up but the lead singer still moves forward. I understand that a lot of these people have a lot more resources, but you'll get there. Don't sell yourself short. Good luck!
