Really want a career in fine art- don't really know where to begin? :L

Hi, I'm Zoe
Basically I absolutely adore art and really want an art related career in the future and I am aware that it is a hard career to be truly successful in so I was thinking it would be good to have an early start.. I'm 14 and I know that means there's not a lot I can do right now but I would love to hear any suggestions?

I have tried to attach two of my drawings..( I hope it works! :L )

Oh wow, such great talent you have! The elephant is amazing. When you have a talent that's so progressed, you need to use it. I can tell that you have a passion for the arts. Definitely. And really, having a passion for something is the first step. You're a step ahead of a lot of people. Do you like other kinds of arts? Writing, music? etc? When it comes to the field of art, there is so much opportunity. I mean, for you- you can be an illustrator for childrens books, open a gallery, design album covers, etc. The sky's the limit.

Now, I don't know much about what you can do now. Does your school offer a running start program at all? When/if you can, I would get enrolled in that as soon as you can. And what it is, basically free college before you graduate high school. I would go and talk to a school counselor about your options. Let them know what your life plan is. Or, what you want to major in, rather. I don't know if they even have something like that where you live, but the best place to start is talk to a school counselor so they can help you form a plan.

Hey First of all, those drawings are fantastic! Truly amazing. You are so talented!!

My advice (and this is just my advice) is to keep the art as a hobby that you can use to earn money. Focus on getting a 'proper' career, but continue to draw/paint etc in your free time, and sell your creations for some extra money Then, as you become more widely known, you can reverse the roles - get a part-time job, and focus on your drawing.

I don't really know how to 'break in' to the art career, so to speak, but I have music as a hobby which I love, but instead of making a career out of it, I'm going to get a 'proper' job, and teach instrumental lessons on the side for a little extra money
