What are you giving up for Lent? - February 23rd 2012, 06:58 AM

What are you giving up for 40 long days this year?
I'm giving up coffee

P.S. I'm not sure if there's already a thread about this...

I try to make reasonable goals & really, anything I would choose to give up would be stuff I barely use or such

I'm giving up coffee/hot chocolate and I'm trying to decide if making hot chocolate milk would be cheating because I'm craving it like crazy. Technically we can cheat on Sundays.

My boyfriend and I gave up drinking so much. We're focusing more on the "do good things for people/be conscious of your actions" rather than giving something up.

I gave up sweets, purging, and cutting, and I'm trying to pray at least one decet of the Rosary per night, and one Rosary for the unborn per week. I haven't done so well on what I've given up, especially the purging, I've been really bad about that lately... But I haven't cut, and I've failed at giving that up for the past three years, this year I will do it.

(and lent is really 44 days long, so you're allowed to "cheat" on Sundays, but Sundays have always been the one day I don't let myself cut or purge, so it's more of a challenge for me)

I haven't slipped at all - and since I eat ice cream quite regularly, I'm sure my body is thanking me

I haven't been "cheating" on Sundays - I feel far more fulfilled going all the way until Easter!

Way to go! Sounds like how I'm feeling about soda. I want it because I can't have it and that is driving me crazy. I came really close to getting a soda earlier, I was about to say yes to one but then I chose iced tea.

I don't do lent, but if I did I would try to give up talking about Rascal Flatts. I never shut up about them!
