Do I Have Grounds to Place Harassment Charges? - June 30th 2009, 02:54 PM

I am trying to get away from my ex boyfriend. I used to live with him until our relationship turned violent and I moved back home with my mom. He has not stopped calling me even though I changed my number (someone gave it to him) and now through the grapevine he found out that I'm seeing someone else. So now when he calls (which I never answer, I always let it go to voicemail) he is threatening to put naked pictures of me online and show them to all of our friends. I don't think he has naked pictures, I thought I deleted them all off of his computer before I left, but who knows maybe I missed some? Also, he is now threatening to wait for me outside one night at my mom's house until I come home and then beat me up when he sees me. I'm just wondering if threats like this are grounds for harassment charges? Or maybe even a restraining order? Or does he actually have to do something first? Also, I have the voicemails saved that he said these things in.

I'd say that you have enough evidence to prove that if he is left alone that he will start something that is potentially dangerous. Just the fact that he said he would beat you up and that you have a recording of that, the law will definitely be on your side.

Damm, that guy needs to learn how to move on.

You have the grounds and rights to do both he could get in serious trouble for harassment and threating your life and you would want to do a restraining order against him and its easily done i have one against my ex husband and every contact he makes = jail time

If you have proof that this happened or evidence in any ways i'm sure this is more enough. I'd say just record the next time he calls or just show the police the messages he's left you.

You definately have the rights to do this if he is threatening to wait for you or hurt you in any way you need to go talk to the police and have them help you get limits put on you so he can't hurt you and don't be afraid to cause he has no right to hurt you at all!

The threat of violence is reason enough to contact the police. The fact that you have recorded proof he said it is even better. I'd say there's a pretty good chance something can be done to keep this guy away. Best of luck.

If you have recordings or records than yes you do but either way going to the police and getting some type of record couldn't hurt. I know in the long run it will help you out(or should knew someone that had this happen) if you have a complaint against him.

Hang in there.
