traumatizing dream.. - August 3rd 2009, 01:45 PM

i'm not sure if this goes under here or what, but i guess it could belong here...
last night i had quite a horrible dream. i dreamt that i was walking in a mall with my mother and then this woman crept up behind me and grabbed me. then she started to touch my body everywhere and i was so scared but i couldn't get free of her grip.. i kept calling out to my mum but she didn't look back...
i was sexually abused by a woman when i was a kid for a few years.. and i've been having similar horrible dreams sometimes and it really makes me feel quite upset the next day...
sry i guess this is just a bit of rant. i just needed to get it out of my system...

and the voice of truth tells me a different story
the voice of truth says "do not be afraid"

It's normal for one to feel like that. I was abused as a child and still have nightmares about it. The truth is, no matter how much you want to get it out of your system, it stays with you. Memories of it doesn't go away. You can ignore it and shun it out of your life but in reality it happened and there is no fixing the past. My best advice which has helped me cope with such abuse is to remember that you are a strong person who will never let it happen to you again. You can take precautions and educate those around you so they never go through what you went through. And of course just continue loving yourself. what happened was not your fault, and though you can't go back and fix it, you can look at yourself with pride and say you got through a horrible experience and are awesome person today. If it helps talk to your family about it. I came to clean to my family about what happend just last winter, it didn't make me feel better honeslt,y but the fact that i let it out and finally told someone after 10 years def. made me feel better.
