Unhappy What if..it was merely 'drunk sleepwalking' - August 6th 2009, 04:53 AM

This thread has been labeled as triggering by the original poster or by a Moderator. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

Is there such a thing as drunk sleepwalking? What if a person has never sleptwalk before, and seems fully aware of what they are doing when they are doing it? Does that make what they do okay? What if the person it happened to can't sleep anymore...what if...

Hi there,

welcome to TH. Um, I'm not completely sure if there's such a thing as "drunk sleepwalking," but I know that occasionally my uncle or something will "get up" and stumble around a bit, seemingly aware but not really conscious.

Do you think you could share a little bit more about what's going on? Seems like there might be more to some of your questions. Feel free to PM me, if you'd like.

Hang in there

So if it was merely drunk sleepwalking, what a person did is excusable?

Hey there,

I don't think that a person hurting someone because they are 'drunk sleepwalking' is excusable. I have known people who sleep walk when they are drunk but they have never hurt another person.

If someone is or has hurt you or someone you know I think the best thing to do is talk to someone who is more knowledgable about this (http://www.teenhelp.org/forums/f3-general/t22-hotlines/). The people on these hotlines might be able to provide you with more information about 'sleep drunk walking'.

I hope this was somewhat helpful and if you ever need to talk feel free to pm me.
