What To Do? Because I have no clue what to do for her -
March 12th 2010, 03:10 AM
Okay.
I have this friend, who has this sister, who has a mental disability, which should be irrelevant, but I'm sure it isn't. She was raped in her own kitchen by a boy from school who's either also got some mental challenges(as in disabilities) or is just in special education. I'm not sure which, I mean I never really took an interest... But the thing is, nobody believes her. Her mom thinks she said it for attention because her sister just got pregnant. Only... even I know her well enough to know that that's just not how she is. My friend and her brother believe her despite the rest of the family waving it aside, but, they're not doing anything. Her brother... nothing. Which I find absolutely outrageous. Her sister is trying to catch up with and talk to the boy, but he ran from her, and she's like, "well what can I do about it?" The whole situation is undeniably eff'd, and I have no idea what to do for them. I don't know how much trouble he can get into or out of for having a mental disability, but I am sure his judgement isn't impaired by whatever he has; otherwise, why would he have run? It's pretty much infuriating, and this can't just go without being reported, without her being checked out and provided with any help she may need to cope, as well as the boy getting prosecuted or something. But how do you advocate for a person who has almost nobody behind them, and their own family against them? You would think her family would have to be the driving force, for anything to be done about this, and for her to get the help she'll need.
if i've ever learned anything, it's to be loved.
funny how accepting and allowing that can be so hard, when loving someone else can be so easy. the thing is, we accept exactly what we think we deserve, no matter what that may be. so i'm thinking it's time to change our mindsets; if we haven't yet figured out that we deserve the best, then it's certainly time. think about it ;] <3 love, Nev |
