heyhey, it's still your choice on how much you want to reveal. it's not going to be very comfortable, but know that the end result is that the counsellor would be able to help you more, the more she knows about the situation. (: however, don't feel very obliged to tell all... just take it as it comes. if you find that it's easier to share it in writing, then write it instead of saying it. or in watever way you find it easier to share.

Hi Lu !!
First CONGRATULATIONS on making this first step !!!! YOU CAN DO THIS !!! I understand your feelings, and they are normal.

I had the same feelings before my first visit. It was hard talking to the psychologist about what they did to me. It was difficult facing the rapes again. I felt a combination of bad, good but mostly exhausted afterwards.

Don't fear this thou, remember the larger picture....you are on a path that will eventually help you feel better and cope better with what you went through.

Please, feel free to pm me anytime. A You can do this, just dont over think things. ( I do know it may be difficult) I do hope you will post an update on how it went.

wow Lu, first to say,i was shocked to see your sig, because you are survivor of almost everything a human can(not) bare with. you are a life warrior,so strong,so brave.

2ndly i agree with the posters above me. this is the great 1st step. i assume you gone through tough situations in your life so its really hard. but when you tell your therapist about things your supposed to,you will have flashbacks, get shocked, but after that, you will feel some more relief,so no regrets. you might write it on paper as a person said above,if its hard to talk in front of the person like that.

and don't worry,he she is a professional at this, shes there to help and support you. if something happens while your remembering, your psychiatrist will be there to calm you down easily, its what he/she does. you can trust that person with all your issues. so it won't be a problem after you finish. and its just the step of recovery, its just for your own good, convince yourself.
wish you the best luck in life.

Hey,

First, i want to say, you are sooo strong! its a great idea to talk to your therapist, but remember, you share what you want to, you dont have to share everything just yet. the counseler will help you if you get a flashback or anything like that.

Best of luck!! I have done this with a school teacher on the subject of verbal and emotional abuse. it is hard and YOU CAN do it!!

you could possibly be scared, releif, sad, happy, or many things like that.

you are strong, you can do it!!!!!

if you ever want to talk about anythig at all, feel free to talk to me!

Hey-

Congrats on this HUGE step. As lostandalone said, it will be difficult, and you will most likely feel and incredible mix of emotions... For me, I felt terrified, and actually had a lot of trouble telling. But my therapist just took it one step at a time. She will most likely have you tackle one aspect, and not all at once. I was made to repeat the first time it happened, without emotion- until I was able to say the facts. Now we're going to be moving into the touchy feely stuff lol. After talking, I might have felt slightly triggered, but more exhausted then anything, and I almost always needed a nap.

I think you are incredibly brave for taking this step, but remember, you are in total control of how much you tell and how fast this goes. What you say is up to you.

Best of wishes and all the courage in the world

when i told my counsellor about my dad (he used to hit me and stuff - still sometimes does) i just started by telling them bits they asked questionns and i answered them the best i could, i didnt tell them alot not everything, just the bits i felt like telling them. i would have told them more but i was only aloud 4 sessions. i found that when my counselllor asked me questions it was easier than just talking about it as such.
